Microsoft

Copywriting + Strategy

Microsoft hired me to lead messaging and strategy across all of their Microsoft 365 (M365) apps to craft more clear, concise, cohesive, consumer friendly messaging, while also helping with the launch and full integration and implementation of their latest AI advancement—Copilot—across all M365 apps.

I worked across iconic Microsoft legacy apps like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive, plus the launch of Microsoft’s first all-new app in years—their AI design tool Microsoft Designer.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ad Spot

Concepted the story for this Word, Excel, and PowerPoint ad spot.

Word

One of the biggest misconceptions Word, and many other Microsoft apps, face is that you must pay/subscribe to use Word, compared to Google Docs (and other Google Wordspace apps) which is free. So it was important to make very clear across all new Word (and PPT below) messaging that Word is free for everyone.

Word homepage refresh. An all-new home landing page for Microsoft Word showcasing a messaging refresh. Again here, the goal was to reestablish the old messaging for Word/Microsoft, and introducing a more simple, user-friendly Word.

Designer (Microsoft’s all-new AI design app)

An all-new app homepage to establish new messaging ahead of the full app launch in July. The goal here was to educate users about Designer, Microsoft’s first brand new app in years, in a way that took these complex features and ideas, and made them easy to understand and not too overwhelming. Another big goal was to teach about AI in a simple way that would excite and not cause “AI-fear” or confusion.

iOS App Store cards for the Designer app with main feature overviews.

Welcome email to Designer for new and existing users to educate and showcase new features and to promote user’s to take action and try the new features.

More work samples coming soon post official app launch.

Microsoft 365 App

Free To Be Free campaign + product landing page with all-new messaging for the new, free M365 app experience and everything you can do. My writing and strategy here focused on simplifying things for consumers to promote ease of use and avoid confusion, and also zoning in on how you get all of these great things for free.

Outlook

Product upsell landing page for the new Outlook app, showcasing all the benefits you get from an upgraded Outlook subscription. A lot has happened from the original Outlook launch, so this new Outlook page had to reestablish some of the voice and tone and pairing/functionality with other Microsoft apps.
